“We Need the Armor of God”

As believers, we are constantly in a war. Not with flesh and blood entities, but in the spiritual realm. God provides us with the armor we need to fight these spiritual battles. He gives us the belt of truth, body armor of righteousness, shoes of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit.

” Be strong with the Lord’s mighty power! Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies and tricks of the Devil. For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms. Use every piece of God’s armor to resist the enemy in the time of evil, so that after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the sturdy belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News, so that you will be fully prepared. In every battle you will need faith as your shield to stop the fiery arrows aimed at you by Satan. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Pray at all times and on every occasion in the power of the Holy Spirit. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers…” Ephesians 6:10-18

The Belt of Truth: The belt is designed to hold things together. We can have the confidence that our beliefs about God and true and it will ultimately, hold us together.

Body Armor of Righteousness: Armor was worn to protect against assaults. It protected vital organs from damage. We must use the Word of God to protect our hearts and live according to the scriptures to not give the enemy an advantage.

Shoes of Peace: As believers and soldiers of the cross, we are peace-makers. Ready to live by example how to make peace with God.

Shield of faith: The Word of God is a shield that the enemy respects and cannot breach. As we grow and hide God’s Word in our hearts, we lesson our vulnerability to the enemy.

The helmet of Salvation: Helmets are worn to protect the head, where spiritual battles are mainly held. The mind is very valuable and we must fill it with the transforming power of the scriptures.

The sword of the Spirit: In our arsenal as Christians, the only offensive weapon we possess is the Spirit. We can use it to both defend against and attack our enemy.
