Frequently Asked Questions

What happens next?

Please call the office or email to schedule an initial visit. If you are planning to bring your child in for therapy, the first session is for parents only so that you have the opportunity to meet your therapist and ascertain whether or not he/she is a good fit for your family. Once scheduled, please complete the appropriate forms sent prior to your initial session.

At our practice, we require consent from both biological parents when there has been a divorce.  The only exception would be if only one parent is assigned conservatorship.  Please be prepared to provide a complete copy of your signed divorce decree to your therapist.

Please note, our therapists are not trained to offer counseling services for high conflict families who are involved in current cases in the family court system.  We will provide you with appropriate referrals.

How often are sessions scheduled?

Although once a week is typical in the beginning, we will work together to find a schedule that best meets your needs, as well as your child’s needs.

What about absences from school?

Your therapist will provide you with a note so your child will have an excused absence.

How long will therapy take place?

While this is a great question, it is also very difficult to answer. Once the process is underway, we can make an educated estimate for you.

How do we explain this to our child?

For little ones, it is simplest to tell them they will be going to have playtime with the therapist. If your child is a bit older and/or inquisitive, you may explain that we are “feelings doctors” who can help them make sense of things that are difficult or confusing.

Do you accept my insurance?

Please call the office or email/call your preferred therapist for details.   At this time, all of our fully licensed LPCs are in-network with BCBS of Texas PPO.  We will provide you with all necessary paperwork, for you to file with your provider, if we are out-of-network.  You may check to see if you have out-of-network coverage.  Most insurances will reimburse you a percentage of the cost if you do have this coverage as part of your policy.

What are your fees?

A session with a fully licensed therapist is billed at $165/hour. The LPC Associates at Planting Seeds offer their sessions at $100-115/hour based on experience and insurance may not be billed for these services.

What is an LPC Associate?

An LPC Associate in the state of Texas has completed his/her master’s degree, passed the national exam, and is provisionally licensed by the state.  Associates have the same training as a fully licensed LPC but must do their first 3,000 hours under the direct supervision of a board approved Supervisor.  Associates may not independently practice and sessions may not be filed for coverage by BCBS of TX.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

We are happy to reschedule with at least 24 hours notice. If an appointment is cancelled less than 24 hours prior or a client fails to show up, there will be a $165 (for fully licensed therapists) or $115 (for LPC Associates) fee charged for the missed appointment.

What happens in the event of inclement weather?

We follow the decisions made by FISD for our Frisco location and PISD for our Prosper location.  If you are uncertain, please contact your therapist.
