Jill Van Dyke, MEd, LPC

Prosper

Jill is a Licensed Professional Counselor and School Counselor who works with children, adolescents, and adults. She received her Master’s of Education in School Counseling from Dallas Baptist University, a Master’s of Arts in Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Governors State University in Illinois.

Jill’s professional experience includes over a decade and a half teaching in Texas and Illinois. Her teaching experience, including eight years teaching Kindergarten, revealed the importance of developing positive individual relationships with her students, not just teaching the academic subject matter. Wanting to make a bigger impact on children and families who need help most, Jill went back to school and earned a Master’s degree in School Counseling and, later, her LPC certification. She has been an elementary school counselor for the last eight years. As a school counselor, Jill has supported students who have dealt with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, suicidal ideation, emotional dysregulation, and relationship difficulties.

Jill believes building a strong rapport with each client is key to creating a warm and welcoming environment that is conducive to healing. Jill has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families who are navigating challenges of anxiety, depression, grief, self-doubt, life transitions and stressors, and relationship difficulties. She utilizes techniques from various theories and approaches, including cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), rational-emotive behavior therapy (REBT), solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), and Choice Theory. Techniques and theories are based on the specific needs and circumstances to assist clients in realizing effective ways of coping with life. Jill believes in guiding conversations that enable individuals and couples to recognize new ways to approach obstacles they encounter. Jill has a deep desire to help every client feel happy, healthy, and whole.

Jill resides in Celina, TX with her husband, children and three dogs.
