Counseling & Business Services

  • Counseling can help you make positive changes in thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. We strive to build a strong rapport, and offer an empathetic, non-judgmental space that allows you to feel safe and supported as you process past current experiences or challenges. No matter your goals, our hope is for to feel empowered, gain insight, understand the impact of past experiences, develop healthy coping strategies, experience improved functioning, process, and heal.

PSCC sees all ages and has counselors specializing in an array of areas, including trauma, grief, anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, OCD, communication, boundaries, relationships, PANS/PANDAS, and life transitions.

  • Family counseling can be helpful when dealing with family issues causing distress if attempts to resolve conflicts have been unsuccessful or you want to strengthen overall dynamics. This work can be accomplished with the whole or part of the family system. Benefits include new or strengthened boundaries, improved communication, increased empathy and vulnerability, restored trust, better self and co-regulation, increased understanding and insight, conflict resolution, and stronger relationships.

Please note that these services may not be covered by insurance.

  • Healthy marriages take consistent, intentional work. Couples counseling can be a powerful tool and allows couples a safe, non-judgmental space to navigate blended families, parenting, intimacy issues, grief and loss, life transitions, or betrayal trauma.

When both partners show up and do the work, couples counseling can have benefits that include deeper connections, improved communication, empathy, better resolution of conflicts and challenges, and enhanced marriage quality.

Please note that these services may not be covered by insurance.

  • This service is available to couples pre or post-engagement who are dealing with existing conflicts or want to proactively gain insight and have a more developed “toolbox” at the ready. Pre-marital counseling can offer couples valuable tools and learned skills to better equip them for a healthy, successful marriage.

Please note that these services may not be covered by insurance.

  • We run different groups throughout the year. Please contact our office to find out what groups are being offered. Please note that insurance may not be used for group counseling.

  • Play therapy is a therapeutic approach utilizing children’s natural language of play to express themselves in a supportive and safe environment. It allows children to process their emotions and experiences, express emotions, develop coping skills, build self-esteem, and gain a sense of control over their world. Play therapy can be effective for several issues, including trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and social skills.

  • Art therapy is a non-directive intervention that utilizes creative techniques to assist clients in processing their emotions and experiences and express themselves, improving mental and emotional well-being. Anyone can benefit from this modality, and you don’t have to consider yourself an artist. It can be especially helpful for people who struggle to verbally articulate their experiences.

  • All our staff are practicing Christians who work daily to exemplify the love of Christ in our world. Many of our counselors can incorporate a Christian worldview and foundation to your counseling sessions. We do not and will not impose our values on our clients. For those interested in faith-based services, we do have the ability to encourage our clients to grow in their faith as well as in their personal life through providing faith-based exploration and offer resources if requested. Several of our staff members are also trained to offer counseling services for those recovering from religious or spiritual abuse. If you suffer because you were taught that God is punishing and judgmental, this likely has impeded your access to the grace and self-compassion you need to face the broken places of your life. If you have been taught to fear and worship has included shame, we can help.

  • EMDR was created by the late Dr. Francine Shapiro as a structured eight-phase approach using standardized procedures to address the past, present, and future aspects of a traumatic memory. The Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model is the theory that underlies the EMDR treatment model and explains the basis of symptomology. This model postulates that humans have an innate information processing system that assimilates new experiences and stores them into existing memory networks in an adaptive state. Dysfunction arises when new information is inadequately processed and then stored in a maladaptive mode in the memory networks, along with associated distorted thoughts, sensations, and emotions. External stimulation similar to the adverse experience can trigger sensations and images from the traumatic event so that the person re-experiences feelings, bodily sensations, or emotions. If these memories remain unprocessed, they become the basis of the symptoms of PTSD. EMDR and the AIP theory hypothesize that when the memories are adequately processed, symptoms can be eliminated and integrated.

  • Brainspotting is an advanced therapeutic approach developed by Dr. David Grand that facilitates deep emotional processing and healing through its direct access to the autonomic and limbic systems within the body’s central nervous system. It identifies specific eye positions—referred to as “brainspots"— that correlate with trauma and emotional pain stored in the brain. Brainspotting has been found to be effective in treating PTSD, Complex PTSD, Anxiety, Panic Disorders, Chronic Pain, Grief and Loss as well as Performance Anxiety and/or Performance Blocks. While Brainspotting and EMDR both utilize eye positions to process trauma, Brainspotting focuses more on the individual’s subjective experience and the brain’s natural healing ability while EMDR is a more structured approach with specific protocols.

  • EMDR or Brainspotting intensives offer the time and space for clients to focus solely on their healing journey and more quickly reduce symptoms that are impacting their daily living. While it is not a fix-all, research has shown the effectiveness of intensive sessions to expedite the recovery process.

Please note that insurance does not cover intensives.
