Laurie Hanson Roberts
Laurie Hanson Roberts has literally sung all over the world. From being featured at the International Church Music Festival in Coventry, England, to churches in Germany and France, to providing the music for the international gathering for Al-Anon in Salt Lake City, Laurie’s music moves and inspires all who hear. Her training is classical, but her style is contemporary and deeply spiritual.
Laurie is a native of the Dallas area and grew up singing in local churches. Laurie holds music degrees from Baylor University and graduate degrees from SMU. While pursuing her studies, Laurie became a much sought after studio musician. Her versatility and ability to sing most any style landed her in some of Dallas’ most prestigious recording studios.
Laurie has had an active meditation practice for over 12 years. It is from this practice that she was introduced to yoga. She has practiced yoga in the North Texas area for almost 5 years, and received her 200 hour YTT yoga certification in October of 2018. Laurie teaches in studios around the Frisco area and is excited to become a part of the Planting Seeds family!
Laurie has always felt a strong connection to the local church. She serves as minister of music and worship for Grace Avenue United Methodist Church in the growing area of Frisco, Texas. Laurie resides in Frisco with her husband, Bill, also a musician and manager of Roy’s Restaurant in Plano, Texas, and their son, Jacob, who is a senior at The University of Central Oklahoma, in Edmond.
Patty has been inspired by fitness her entire life, yet only walked into a yoga studio after her doctor recommended it to gain back balance and flexibility after a complete rupture of her Achilles’ tendon. When it helped her recover that balance and so much more, her passion for yoga just grew! She since went on to complete her yoga teacher training (200 hr RYT) as well as Chair & Gentle Yoga certifications. Her goal is to empower everyone, including the mobility impaired and seniors, to discover their inner strength, balance and grace on and off the mat.
Patty and her husband have two college-age sons. When not teaching yoga, she is volunteering with the youth at church or at work as a food scientist.
Ava found yoga in 1999 to balance stressful corporate life at a desk and high-impact fitness classes that ravaged her knees. As her yoga practice grew, she saw her life transform by shedding 80 pounds, falling in love, and training with yogis throughout Thailand, Bali, and China.
She received her 200 and 300 hour yoga certifications with Jo Stokes and DeAnna Shires, including Breathe Into Recovery training. Ava loves to travel and she teaches nationally about essential oils and natural healthcare. She has written several yoga and essential oil guidebooks and loves sharing her passion for God and leading a non-harming life.
When Ava isn’t on the mat, you will find her building something or breaking something, dancing with her little daughter, and snuggling with her gorgeous husband. You are invited to roll out your mat and experience this Aggie Engineer’s custom class soundtracks that creates mindful awareness through guided breath/body connection.
